Step 1: Providing consent 

You will be provided with all the important information required before you start with us and when you are happy you can provide consent. This will take no longer than 5-10 minutes.

Step 2: Complete a questionnaire about yourself 

Your answers will provide researchers with information to create links between our lifestyles and our health. You can skip the questions you wish not to answer.  

There's no rush. Progress will be saved so you can pick up where you left off.

Step 3: Have your eye scanned  

Visit a participating Foresight community optical practice for your eye scan. 

After your scan 

Here's how we ensure your data works hard for future health discoveries: 

Once your retinal images have been collected, they will be processed and linked to your health-related data. Your scans will be stored for future analyses by researchers. 

Our collection protocol will ensure your retinal images are de-linked from your identity moments after the scan is done. This minimises the risk of identifying you through your retinal image. Your scans will help create a much-needed database for future research. By linking eye scans with other health-related data such as your medical records and genetics, it is possible to identify new ways to understand health and disease risk.
